LETTERS: School Board needs lessons on masks before Covid decisions

To Ozaukee Press:

Reading the news article in last week’s Ozaukee Press about the Port Washington-Saukville School Board’s action on the Covid Response Team’s request to tighten Covid restrictions and require masks was very concerning.

School Board members who are voting on the health and safety of our school children need to do serious research before casting their votes.

Masks are not useless, as one board member claimed, and there is plenty of data to support that. If you don’t believe the CDC or the FDA, all you have to do is a Google search and you will find plenty of reliable sources.

The recommendations have changed over time, but remember, science is based on facts and is always changing as it learns more.

There are plenty more sources to be found, all with solid evidence. It isn’t right to put children at risk just because you don’t feel masks work. You need to listen to professionals with the experience to do the research and to interpret the data. Isn’t it always better to err on the side of safety and caution, than to risk making the wrong decision?

Can’t your children wear a mere mask to keep her children safe at school?
