Sale of lot in business park on hold but still expected

Saukville-based Paulsen Mechanical Inc. is still expected to purchase a village-owned lot in the Fredonia business park, but a delay in the offer on the property will push finalizing the sale back a month.

Paulsen Mechanical owner Scott Paulsen met with the Village of Fredonia Finance Committee Aug. 26 to discuss the prospect of purchasing a two-acre lot at 627 Tower Drive. The property would be used to construct a 8,000-square-foot building to expand the metal-fabrication company’s operations.

The lot is part of 62 acres the village purchased in July for $1.09 million, which will be paid for using funds from a tax increment finance district that includes the park.

During the meeting, Paulsen said he hoped to move quickly on the construction and expansion and planned to have an offer for the lot submitted before a Sept. 2 Village Board meeting.

A special Finance Committee meeting had been scheduled before the board meeting to discuss the offer but was canceled because the offer was not submitted.

Public Works Director Roger Strohm said Paulsen is still interested in the property but that the company is working on putting an offer together.

“They’re trying to put calls into contractors and builders and see about the cost,” he said.

Trustee Richard Abegglen said he hopes to have an offer by the October Finance Committee meeting so the Village Board can begin discussions on the sale.
