KUDOS: Port Yacht Club’s Venetian Night was quite a sight

To Ozaukee Press:

Port Washington Yacht Club’s Venetian Night event on Sunday was quite a sight. Boats that ranged from 16-foot dinghies to a 45-foot sailboat, decked out in lights and decorated in themes that included a large shark and a rendition of the city’s lighthouse, paraded around the harbor to celebrate the Labor Day weekend.

But perhaps the best sight was that of the scores of people who gathered in Coal Dock and Rotary parks to enjoy the lakefront and watch the parade.

Thanks to the boat owners who participated, without whom the yacht club could not have resurrected this event, and the spectators whose enthusiasm could not be dampened by a few drops of rain.

Thanks also to the panel of judges who were faced with tough decisions — Mayor Ted Neitzke, Tourism Council Executive Director Kathy Tank and Port Main Street Inc. Executive Director Kristina Tadeo.

Planning is already underway for what may be an expanded Venetian Night celebration next year.
