Lawrence W. Wilde

 

Lawrence W. Wilde passed away at his home on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at the age of 93. 

 Lawrence was born in Port Washington, Wis., on Dec. 12, 1927, to Charles and Jenny (Baumann) Wilde. 

He entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.  On Sept. 3, 1955, he married Loretta (nee) Peters, who preceded him in death in April 2012.

Lawrence was an active member of American Legion Landt-Thiel Post 470 in Saukville and enjoyed his involvement working at various events and fundraisers. He was very proud of being a member.

 He was an auto body technician and in his spare time worked on cars for friends and family. He was a hard-working, self-taught handyman and enjoyed working on projects that included remodeling the family homestead and gardening.

He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, listening and dancing to polka music with Loretta. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and rarely missed watching a game on TV.

Lawrence was the third generation to live in the family homestead and had great pride in raising his family in the home he was born in. His life revolved around his family.     

He was a member of Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington.

Lawrence will be greatly missed by his children Debra (Jeff) Ewig, Jacki (Chris) Medinger, Charles Wilde, Terri (Rick) Thompson, Pam (Greg) TenPass and Robert (Jan) Wilde, as well as 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister, Audrey Feider and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ray, Elmer, George, Edward, Carl and Walter; and sisters Eleanor Grupe and Leona Remitz.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, Wis. 53074, at 6:00 p.m.

The family will greet visitors before the  service at 6 p.m.
