LETTER: Capitol coup was attempted by Trump mob, not Guard soldiers

To Ozaukee Press:

Was Art DeJong serious when he wrote the letter to the editor, “Armed troops in DC make it look like a coup was in progress,” published in last week’s Ozaukee Press? Or did he get the players mixed.   

I believe the National Guard was in Washington, D.C., to protect the members of Congress who were there to do their constitutional duty.   

Mr. DeJong claimed threats were “non-existant.” When a mob breaks into the U.S. Capitol building and members of Congress have to run for safety in secure locations, I think there was a threat.     

The threat did not come from the National Guard. The threat of a coup came from the mob.
