State extends deadline for noncandidacy notices

The deadline for incumbent candidates in the spring 2021 election to file notices of noncandidacy has been extended to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, by the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

The commission’s calendar had stated that the deadline was 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

Candidates for political offices could begin circulating petitions this week to run in the spring 2021 election.

All seats are for two-year terms.

Completed nomination papers are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5. If a primary is necessary, it will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16. 

Incumbents whose seats will be on the April 6 ballot are:

• In the Village of Fredonia, Village President Don Dohrwardt and trustees John Long, Bill McLarty and Dan Gehrke.

• In the Town of Fredonia, Chairman Lance Leider and supervisors Chris Janik and Mark Schubert.

• On the Northern Ozaukee School Board, Town of Belgium representative Tim Burmesch and Village of Fredonia representative Steve Burmesch. Each seat is for a three-year term.

A vacant at-large seat also will be on the ballot to fill the remaining year of that term.
