Milwaukee River cleanup seeking volunteers

Volunteers are being invited to participate in a Milwaukeee River cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 28, at Peninsula Park in Saukville.

Volunteers will walk along the river that forms the border of Peninsula Park picking up trash and debris.

Riveredge Nature Center is sponsoring the event, which is open to all ages, said Riveredge Community Program Manager Cassie Bauer.

“Anyone is welcome,” she said.

Bauer suggested volunteers wear tennis shoes or closed-toed shoes or waterproof boots if they are willing to get in the river, if deemed safe by the onsite event managers.

Volunteers can show up at anytime, she said.

Riveredge will have another river cleanup exercise from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Lime Kiln Park in Grafton.

For more information on either event, call Bauer at 416-1364.
