Cedar Creek Motorsports’ pitchman is a real ace

Cedar Creek Motorsports is hoping its new pitchman will bring the heat to the Town of Cedarburg dealer of outdoor motor equipment.

That’s because their new pitchman is Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who bought a new Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000 Northstar utility terrain vehicle, or UTV, from the dealership.

And in the process, Misiorowski, who’s perhaps better known as The Miz, and the dealership have forged a partnership in print and video marketing.

And, with the Brewers winning the World Series and Misiorowski a potential Cy Young Award winner, it’s a campaign that’s resonating.

The commercial ran on cable before the Series and is on social media.

“A lot of people have seen it,” Julie Newhauser, Cedar Creek’s marketing director, said. “Most of them commented that it’s so cool.”

The partnership started when Misiorowski called Cedar Creek in early September looking to buy a UTV, Newhauser said.

Polaris, she said, had recommended Misiorowski call Cedar Creek due to their reputation and the fact Cedar Creek is the largest dealership in the state with 76,000 square feet under its roof and nine acres “of power sports bliss,” Newhauser said.

“He called and we thought, ‘How do we make this happen?’” she said.

“He knew exactly what he wanted,” she added, noting Misiorowski is an avid hunter.

They worked with him over the phone, talking about the accessories he needed and wanted and worked to ensure Misiorowski, who is 6 feet, 7 inches tall, fit in the vehicle, Newhauser said.

They also talked with Misiorowski and his representatives about a partnership, ultimately reaching an agreement.

It took some time to arrange a day when Misiorowski would come to Cedarburg for filming and to check out his new vehicle, Newhauser said, given the Brewers schedule.

Even during the team’s bye week, she said, “the coach kept calling for practices and meetings. We had people on standby for whenever he could come.”

That day was Oct. 20, three days before the World Series began.

“We were all ready,” she said. “We had a script in hand. We prepared a different jersey for him saying Crew City. It meshed very well with the Brew Crew (the Brewers’ nickname) and Ranger Crew.”

They had about three hours with Misiorowski, who was accompanied by his fiancée, Newhauser said.

“He came in and we were all just mouths agape,” she said. “He’s probably going to win the Cy Young Award. We were all thinking they were going to win the World Series.”

Misiorowski, she said, was “super nice and very polite. He was unassuming and very gracious with his time

“He’s what every mother, if she were going to have a son, would want.”

Misiorowski checked out the vehicle he was buying, which is decked out in camo, has seating for six, an enclosed cab and both heating and air conditioning, and finalized which accessories it should have. The vehicle will be delivered to Misiorowski’s Missouri home in time for hunting season, Newhauser said.

Much of the three hours he spent at the dealership was taken up by filming, Newhauser said, but Misiorowski also took time to talk to people and pose for photos with the employees.

As he left, Newhauser said, the staff shouted words of encouragement for the Series that was about to begin.

“It was the thrill of a lifetime,” she said. “We all think he’s going to be winning the Cy Young Award.”

Cedar Creek is in the midst of a Crew City giveaway — people visiting the dealership through mid-November can enter to win a Milwaukee baseball inspired Ranger Crew Northstar model with seating for five that’s valued at more than $22,000 — and they also created a custom Polaris Crew City baseball jersey that Misiorowski signed. The jersey was donated to Misiorowski’s favorite charity, Wisconsin Parkinson Association, and will be auctioned during an Evening with The Miz event on Friday, Nov. 6, to benefit the organization.

Newhauser noted that Misiorowski is not the only sports figure to purchase a vehicle at the dealership. Among the others is Jonathan Taylor, a University of Wisconsin football standout who now plays running back for the Indianapolis Colts and last year ordered 13 matching UTVs for himself and the team’s linemen as their Christmas gifts.
