Concessions Impressions

It was a return to childhood last Thursday at Tendick Park. The Port Washington Cross Country Invite is the only sporting event I’ve attended that sells SpaghettiOs.

I took full advantage. For those of you who haven’t tasted these since the Reagan Administration, I assure you they are as deliciously comforting as they were back then.

Speaking of Reagan, Port’s most famous visitor since Jacob Misiorowski, the lines for the port-a-potties resembled the 1980s’ bread lines in the Soviet Union. Hit your home facility before you arrive, everyone.

The meet offered a combo meal  — a hot dog or SpaghettiOs, chips, a drink and a cookie. For those scoring at home, it’s the second combo I’ve found. Ozaukee football offered one a few years ago.

Earlier this month, onions were again rediscovered. After Random Lake offered one of the top condiments last month, Cedar Grove-Belgium had the chopped bulbs at its homecoming football game on Oct. 10, and I took full advantage.
