LETTER: Tom Tiffany will put an end to state’s ‘socialist ‘ spending
To Ozaukee Press:
Wisconsin families are feeling the squeeze of rising costs, and many question whether state government is delivering results that justify higher taxes and spending. In Milwaukee, residents face a combined sales tax of 7.9%, while homeowners across the state report significant increases in property taxes. For many seniors and working families, the cost of living is becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
At the same time, taxpayers are being asked to fund ever-expanding government programs despite disappointing outcomes in key areas. Public education is a prime example. Despite substantial increases in education spending over the years, literacy and proficiency rates in some districts remain deeply troubling. Taxpayers have a right to ask why greater spending has not consistently translated into better results.
Concerns over government accountability extend beyond education. Recent Medicaid fraud investigations in the Milwaukee area have involved millions of dollars in allegedly fraudulent claims, raising questions about oversight and enforcement. When fraud occurs, taxpayers deserve assurance that state agencies are actively monitoring programs and protecting public funds.
Many residents also object to policies that continue expanding government obligations while families struggle to pay their own bills. Critics argue that Wisconsin’s challenge is not a shortage of tax revenue but a lack of spending discipline and measurable performance standards.
Government exists to serve the public, not the other way around. Before taxpayers are asked to contribute more, state leaders should demonstrate that existing resources are being used effectively. Wisconsin needs greater transparency, stronger oversight, and a renewed focus on results. Families deserve accountability for every dollar taken from their wallets.
We can’t afford four more years of Democratic leadership at the state level. The Democrats’ Economic Justice Bill of Rights drafted in the statehouse consists of 20 bills expected to cost $15 billion each year. It includes a 35% wealth tax plus a laundry list of socialist spending that will remake Wisconsin into something unrecognizable.
Stop it by voting for Tom Tiffany for governor and Eric Toney for attorney general. And vote yes on all three referendums to return common sense to Wisconsinites.
