YOUR PIX: A rarely seen hawk delighted birders

Steve and Rachel Holzman of Grafton encountered this handsome Swainson’s hawk along Ulao Road near Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve. It was a remarkable sighting because this species of hawk is rarely seen in Wisconsin, and when word of its presence spread in the birding community a number of birders were able to record it as a life bird—a first-ever sighting.
