Man sent to prison for domestic abuse attack

A 32-year-old Grafton man who was convicted by an Ozaukee County jury of beating his wife was sentenced last week to 2-1/2 years in prison.

Deunseia D. Foster was also sentenced by Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Sandy Williams to four years of extended supervision following his incarceration.

On Aug. 18, a jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Foster guilty of strangulation and suffocation and substantial battery, both felonies, and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. The jury acquitted him of felony intimidation of a victim.

According to a criminal complaint, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, Foster’s wife went to the Grafton Police Station to report a domestic abuse incident involving her husband.

Officers immediately noticed her injuries, which included bruising and swelling on her face and prominent finger impressions and bruises on her neck, and called an ambulance so she could be examined. The woman declined ambulance transportation to a hospital but was taken to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton by her mother.

At the hospital, the woman told officers a day earlier she and Foster got into an argument about taking their child to a medical appointment. She said she was not feeling well and Foster refused to take the child to the doctor. 

The woman said that on Feb. 18, Foster left their home early, returned at 6 p.m. and became angry because she was not feeding the children because she was sick. She said Foster began screaming at her and calling her names and, because she was scared due to past domestic abuse incidents, she slapped him.

The woman said Foster slapped her repeatedly and grabbed her by the neck and began squeezing until she felt close to passing out. She said Foster then slammed her head into an end table and the floor.

Eventually Foster left the house, the woman said, and on his way out he threatened her, telling her not to call the police, the complaint states. 

The woman said medical staff told her she suffered a concussion.

When officers interviewed Foster, he said his wife punched him in the face multiple times during an argument. He said he blocked one of the punches and pushed the woman away, causing her to fall. Officers did not see any marks or bruises on Foster’s hands or face, according to the complaint.

According to court records, Foster’s wife filed for divorce in August 2025.
