Singer, songwriter to perform on Sept. 19

The Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series will begin its new season with a concert by Sarah McQuaid at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

The concert will be at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.

McQuaid is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist whose life and music span several cultures. Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, a longtime resident of Ireland and now based in rural Cornwall, England, she brings a varied background into her music that blends folk, Americana, blues and atmospheric contemporary songwriting.

Since releasing her first solo album, “When Two Lovers Meet,” in 1997, McQuaid has developed a distinctive body of work ranging from traditional songs and intimate ballads to experimental arrangements and instrumental pieces.

She is the author of The Irish DADGAD Guitar Book and in 2017, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ards International Guitar Festival in recognition of her musicianship and contribution to guitar music.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $24 at the door, with a $1 per donated food item discount to a maximum $4 given at the door.

Student tickets are $12.

Concessions will be available during intermission.
