Douglas Michael Huberty

Douglas Michael Huberty of Port Washington, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 73.

He was born on April 26, 1953, in Stanley, Wis., the beloved son of Paul and Dolores (Johnson) Huberty. The Huberty family later moved to Fredonia, Wis.

Doug was a 1971 graduate of Ozaukee High School in Fredonia, Wis.

On July 29, 1972, he married his first wife, Kathi Klein, with whom he shared his only child, Stacy.

He was a foundry worker, welder and fabricator for many years, and in his retirement he worked with a close friend doing landscaping and snow removal.

Doug was the ultimate hunter and an avid outdoorsman. He could entertain you for hours with stories of his outdoor adventures while hunting and fishing. Doug was also known to his friends as “Bear” and the “dog whisperer.” All dogs loved him, especially his granddog Jax.

In his younger years he played in softball leagues and enjoyed playing pool.

Doug’s memory will remain in the hearts of his daughter Stacy (Randy) Bliss of Fredonia, Wis.; brother Mike (Becky) Huberty of Sheboygan, Wis.; sister Michelle (Charles) Cross of Chula Vista, Calif.; granddaughters Ashlee Haskins, Chelsee Haskins and Kasee Haskins, all of West Bend, Wis.; 10 great-grandchildren, Armahnee, Maiya, Ca’mera, Amahree, Meela, Davonee, Novian, Di’yaree, Cienna and Nesiah; nieces and nephews; Tony Ernisse, who was like a son to him; and many other dear family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Huberty, sister Karen Roos and niece Nikki Roos.

The family is planning a celebration of life some time in September of this year during his favorite time of year — bow hunting season. Please check the funeral home website for updates on the celebration of life.

Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
