Flag Day, Jail Literacy Program leaders honored

Two area residents were honored by the Milwaukee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during a recent meeting. David Janik of the Town of Fredonia (center, top photo), president of the National Flag Day Foundation, received the Excellence in Community Service Award. With Janik were (from left) his brother and sister-in-law Chris and Laurie Janik, friend Jean Mueller and Grace Eernisse, DAR community service awards chairperson. Eernisse, of the Town of Port Washington, (center, lower photo) received the DAR State of Wisconsin Literacy Promotion Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her years of dedicated service to the Ozaukee County Jail Literacy Program.
