Thousands donated 15 feet at a time

The Ozaukee Warriors Boys’ Basketball Club recently presented a check for $16,905.65 to the Northern Ozaukee School District to go toward new bleachers in the high school gym. The money was raised at the annual Free Throw Challenge held Jan. 11. Players made 3,421 free throws. Gavin Ayala led high school players by making 91 shots. Jonny Hunkins made 80, the most for players in fifth through eighth grade. Gauge Lawonn and Colton Rozewicz tied for the top spot in the third and fourth-grade division, making 41 shots each. Phil Kaminski was the top overall fundraiser, bringing in $1,200.  Hunter Kowalkowski was second with $1,050. The new bleachers will replace ones from the 1960s. The project is slated to cost $167,000 with nearly half to be paid for by donations.
