Weyker honored as a First Responder of the Year

Fredonia Fire Chief Brian Weyker was recently awarded one of 99 First Responder of the Year awards at the State Capitol in Madison. Each State Assembly member may honor someone from his or her district, and Rep. Rob Brooks chose Weyker. The chief (above) was joined by (from left) his father Eugene, son Luke, wife Linda, Fredonia Village Administrator Christophe Jenkins and Brooks. “Brian Weyker has been a devoted firefighter for the Fredonia Fire Department since October 1996. Becoming fire chief in 2016, he has innovated new outreach and recruitment methods through service initiative, fire safety education and marketing. He helped lead the creation of the Northern Ozaukee Joint ALS Paramedic-level program, which provides enhanced care and protection to the four northern municipalities,” Brooks said in a statement. “Chief Weyker is a valuable member of our community, increasing the effectiveness of our fire departments.”
