LETTER: DOGE cuts amount to taking from poor, giving to the rich

To Ozaukee Press:

Citizens who demonize our federal government fail to realize its importance and, most importantly, its ability to invest in us. Every dollar spent by the federal government, whether from taxes collected or cash received from those who buy our bonds, ends up in the hands of citizens.

These citizens invest that money locally by spending it for groceries, gas, rent, etc. The idea that federal spending is a bad thing is just plain wrong. It’s an investment.

DOGE and other programs designed to deny us these benefits are about consolidating power among the rich and powerful. It’s a con that sadly has caught hold.  Robin Hood took from the rich to give to the poor. Why are we taking from the poor and giving to the rich?
