Riveredge to host educational classes

A variety of educational programs, from learning to grow garlic to using a chainsaw to local musical history, will be held at Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville in the coming weeks.

“Diving Into the Blues: Local Music History and the Delta Blues” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

  The Little Explorers Playgroup will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

“Stroll with a Naturalist: How Nature Prepares for Winter” will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

A drop-in visit with a naturalist program will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

A level one SAWW Chainsaw Training class will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.

A “Growing Green: Overwintering Your Garden” work-and-learn session will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29

The Riveredge Photo Club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.

  Autumn Yoga will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.

“Growing Green: Garlic Planting at the Riveredge Farm” will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

During the work-and-learn session, those attending will plant garlic in the Riveredge garden, learning tips on how to care for the crop along the way.

The program is for people 18 and older. There is no fee, but advance registration is suggested.

Pita cooking classes will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on two Tuesdays, Nov. 5 and 19.

Those attending will prepare a vegetable pita sandwich with fresh ingredients and traditional spices.

The class is for people 12 and older, although a parent or guardian must register with those younger than 16.

  There is no fee but advance registration is required.
