Poppies for Memorial Day

Members of the Landt-Thiel American Legion Auxiliary (from left) Poppy Chairman Prudence Petrykowski, Kathy Watry, Sally Kupkovits, Barb Bichler and Carole Koepp, distributed poppies at Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly in Saukville ahead of Memorial Day. Not only are poppies a sign of respect and gratitude for those who died serving their country but donations received in exchange for them are used to help veterans. Last year, the Saukville Auxiliary used those funds to buy socks, provide transportation for medical care, purchase clothing for a job interview and buy a holiday dinner for a veteran.           Photo by Sam Arendt
