Opening reception for exhibit is Jan. 26
The opening reception for “Art of Charles Porteus,” the newest exhibit at the Cedarburg Art Museum, will be held from5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.
A gallery talk will be held at 5:30 p.m.
The museum will also welcome Executive Director Heather Wenthold during the reception.
“Art of Charles Porteus” will be on exhibit from Jan. 26 to April 26.
Porteus was most recognized for his diligent work as a wax figure modeler and scene painter for true-to-life historical group displays at the Milwaukee Public Museum from 1919 to 1940.
Featured in this exhibit are a series of paintings depicting idyllic local landscapes and urban Milwaukee scenes alongside portraits of Native Americans he met during his travels and scenes inspired by museum dioramas.
The museum at W63 N675 Washington Ave. will be closed through Jan. 25.
The regular hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
