January activities for adults set at library

January activities for adults at the Niederkorn Library in Port Washington have been announced.

Grab n’ Go Cold Weather Craft kits will be available beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, while supplies last.

The kits include an instruction sheet as well as all the supplies needed for the project.

The grief support group meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the community room.

The group, which is open to anyone experiencing grief, is facilitated by Colson Leach, bereavement coordinator with Compassus Hospice.

A “crafternoon” will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The makerspace is open to all crafters and needle artists. They are asked to bring their supplies or use the supplies and machines provided.

A community health talk on variants, what treatments are effective against them and how herd immunity works will be held in the community room at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, led by Wisconsin Health Literacy.

A financial literacy talk on how to recognize the red flags of fraud and avoid it will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in the community room.

The series led by Kirsten Coenen of Kohler Credit Union will explore fraud terminology and how government scams work.

The Friday Morning Book Talk group sponsored by the Port Washington Senior Center will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in the quiet room.

Copies of the book to be discussed are available for check out.

The Novel Ideas Book Club for fiction fanatics will meet in the quiet room at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

A Holocaust remembrance will be held in the community room at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, and Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Holocaust studies specialist Scott Lone will discuss the history of the Holocaust in Germany, how the Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated and its lasting effects on the world.

A technology class will discuss the Google suite at the Senior Center, 403 Foster St., at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. To register, call the Senior Center at (262) 284-5821.

The BYO Book Club will meet at Inventors BrewPub on Lake Street at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.

An introduction to tai chi will be provided during a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, class in the library’s community room. Refreshments will be provided.
