Handel’s ‘Messiah’ to be performed Dec. 10

The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform Handel’s “Messiah” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Stefanie H. Weill Center.

This year’s performance is dubbed “Messiah Returns” because it’s the first time since the pandemic that the groups have performed the oratorio.

The concert will feature renowned regional soloists, including soprano Kristin Knutson, who performs regularly in Milwaukee and Chicago and has appeared with the New York Philharmonic; alto Karen Leigh-Post, voice department chairwoman and professor of music at Lawrence University; tenor Steve Sieck, associate professor of choral studies at Lawrence University; and bass Aaron Wardell, who performs with numerous Chicago-area opera groups.

The concert will include an audience sing-along on the most famous choruses, “And the Glory of the Lord,” “Glory to God,” “Worthy is the Lamb” and the “Hallelujah” chorus.
