Grafton girl runners finish seventh; boys take 12th

The Grafton High School girls’ cross country team finished ahead of two North Shore Conference opponents in the Matt Hadler Invite at Menomonee Falls last Saturday.

The Black Hawks scored 191 points and finished seventh of 11 teams, ahead of Hartford’s 203 and West Bend East’s 247.

Slinger won with 27 points.

Grafton’s Callie Faust ran the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 35 seconds. Evelyn Schmit was 22nd in 21:51. Josie Gehrke was 44th in 23:23, Mia McKinnis was 59th in 24:34, and Kate Sarbacker was 65th in 25:15.

The boys scored 310 points and were 12th of 13 teams. Hartford won with 67.

Keegan Vaculik was 54th in 18:43, Gabe Mietkowski was 57th in 18:50, Tyler Swenson was 67th in 19:28, Luke Hanson was 70th in 19:33 and Trevor Nauta was 77th in 19:56.

The Hawks run in the Marquette Invite at Tendick Park in the Town of Saukville on Saturday, Sept. 17.
