Kayak basics taught in Grafton

The Grafton Parks and Recreation Department will introduce people to all things kayak on Friday, July 22.

Kayak Kickstart will teach the basics of paddling skills, explain the differences in types of kayaks, proper paddle attire, how to get in and out of a kayak and what to do if a kayaker falls into the water.

Kayaks will be available to use. People are asked to note on their registration forms if they need a kayak.

The class is for people 16 and older.

Silent Wake, LLC, of Fredonia is leading the class.

The class will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The cost is $65 per person.
