YOUR PIX: A day at the beach (with ice)

Amsterdam Park in Cedar Grove has a beautiful Lake Michigan beach year-round, but this February, following a week of subzero temperatures, it’s under ice banks that resemble the surface of the moon. The niece and nephews of Becky Casarez of Port Washington—Emily Brunner and Cole and Finn Janke—had fun exploring the depressions and hills that had been formed by breaking waves that had frozen almost instantly. They played safely on solid ice near the edge of the beach, though the banks extended hundreds of yards into the lake.  Photo by Becky Casarez
