Yoga in park to mark return of rec programs
The Grafton Parks and Recreation Department will host Sunshine Gentle Flow outside the Robert P. Zaun Pavilion in Lime Kiln Park starting this month.
Recreation Supervisor Karin Sevener said this is the first in-person program offered by the department since the coronavirus pandemic has limited public gatherings.
She said practicing yoga outside is safe because social distancing will be maintained.
“A lot of people are looking forward to exercising with others, and we want to do that safely and have them be appropriately physically distant from each other,” she said.
“The class is designed to revitalize the body, relax the mind and reduce stress. Accessible movements are created to maximize blood flow with an emphasis on breath work.”
In case of inclement weather, classes will be held inside the pavilion.
Participants are encouraged to dress in layers and bring a yoga mat and water.
Classes, which will be taught by Brianne Bertrang, are scheduled from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturdays from June 20 to Sept. 12. There will be no class on July 4.
The program fee is $46 for Village of Grafton residents and $56 for nonresidents.
Sevener said other department programs that were postponed due the virus are likely to resume after July 1.
Sevener said the yoga program is limited to six people. To register online, visit www.qualitylifegrafton.com.
