William F. Burris

William F. Burris, 85, of Belgium died on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at The Waterford in Plymouth with family at his side.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1934, in Massena, Iowa, the son of Fred and Ethel (Johnson) Burris.

In 1956, he moved to Wisconsin, and on June 29, 1957, he married Patricia Tackes at St. Nicholas Church in Dacada.

Mr. Burris served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 5373 Ozaukee County Memorial Post.

William “Bill” was employed by Gahan Construction, formerly of Port Washington, Port Washington Lumber and lastly as a supervisor at Cedarburg Lumber Co.

Bill was very proud of and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and working with dogs — most recently his dog Jasper. He also loved to shoot pool, go dancing, play sheepshead and socialize with friends and family.

 Survivors include his wife Patricia; four sons, Phil (Linda) Burris of Augusta, Ga., Pat (Kathy) of Madison, Ala., John (Amy) Burris of Jacksonport and Bill (Jenna) Burris of Kohler; four daughters, Karen of Chicago, Sandy (Tim) Wolff of Fredonia, Julie (Keith) Carbaugh of Plymouth and Jackie (Dan) Nowacki of Kewaskum; his grandchildren Nina Burris, Michael, Shawn, Kevin and Daniel Burris, Brittany, Jake, Amy and Carla Wolff, Stephanie Carbaugh, Emily (Mitch) Kuster, Megan, Adam and Tessy Carbaugh, Ellie Burris, Ben and Jill Burris and Nora and Ted Nowacki; his siblings Jack (Mary) Burris, Diane Petersen and Judy Wohlford; as well as nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

William was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Dana Nowacki and sisters June (Curt) Davis and Lois (Gene) Mullen.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada, W4274 Hwy. K, Random Lake, WI 53075, with Father Gideon Buya presiding.  

The family will receive guests at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the service.  

William will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Gathering Place & Memory Matters in Sheboygan Falls are appreciated.
