Village budget goes to public hearing Nov. 18
A public hearing on a proposed 2020 Village of Saukville budget that calls for a 1.62% spending increase will be held at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Village Hall.
A Village Board meeting will be held immediately following the hearing to approve the budget and set the tax levy.
According to the proposed budget, operating and capital spending would increase $58,214 to $3.64 million, with the largest increase in spending being $42,937 for public safety due to agreed wage increases in the police department and restructuring of the fire department.
The property tax levy would increase $53,791, or about 2.9%, over 2019.
The tax rate to support the budget would go up 15 cents to $7.29 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. That means the owner of a $200,000 house would pay $1,458 in village taxes.
