Vets to be named to Wall of Honor
Port Washington High School’s annual Wall of Honor ceremony, which honors military veterans who attended the school, will once again be held in person this year.
The Veterans Day celebration, which this year will honor three veterans, was held online last year due to the pandemic.
Those being inducted to the Wall are Dennis Jung, who was nominated by the Ozaukee County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars; Ronald Washak, nominated by the Landt-Thiel American Legion in Saukville; and Mark “Chico” Poull, nominated by the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion in Port.
They join 81 veterans on the Wall of Honor.
The ceremony, which is open to the public, is to take place at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, in the Port Washington High School gym.
The event will include musical presentations, as well as the playing of taps, and the presentation of colors. Principal Thad Gabrielse will offer an address, as will the president of the Student Council.
There will be a rifle salute and reflections following remarks by the honorees and their representatives.
Following the event, people are invited to the Port Washington Legion Hall on Lake Street for a light lunch.
