Venetian Night boat parade to be held Sept. 6 in Port
Port Washington’s annual Venetian Night lighted boat parade will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6.
The boats will head through the harbor along Coal Dock Park, with organizers touting the inner breakwater and Rotary and Coal Dock parks as the best places to view the event.
Venetian Night has been a popular event in the city, making its debut as part of the city’s 175th anniversary celebration in 2010 and drawing crowds to the lakefront whenever its held.
Although the decorated boats parade around the harbor at 8 p.m., they can be viewed in their slips in the marina prior to the event.
The event, sponsored by the Port Washington Yacht Club, will conclude at 10 p.m. with an awards ceremony.
First, second and third place awards will be given in both the powerboat and sailboat categories.
The Venetian Night parade isn’t the only event that will draw people to the lakefront. The cardboard boat races are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7. A variety of awards will also be given out for the winners of that event, which is sponsored by Sea Scout Ship 7992 and the marina.
