Vada ‘Alice’ Dickmann

Vada “Alice” Dickmann, age 93, of Saukville, Wis., passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2022, at Cedar Community in West Bend, Wis.

Alice was born on Jan. 14, 1929, to Vada and Claude Dalton in Barnum, Wis.

After graduating from North Division High School, she went on to become a nurse’s aide at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington, Wis., and ended her career as an employee at Rexnord Plastics in Grafton, Wis.

Alice met her husband Ralph E. Dickmann while working as a nurse’s aide at St. Alphonsus Hospital, where Ralph was a patient. They wed in 1949, going on to have six children, Ralph Jr., Sandra, Richard, Phillip, Ted and Michael.

Alice dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family, and she was the “glue” that kept everyone together.

Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the cottage near Shawano, Wis., and later going on many camping trips throughout the country in their fifth wheel camper.

Alice was a member of the Ladies Aide at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Wis., where she enjoyed quilting and knitting and made several beautiful quilts and afghans for church, as well as for her family members.

Alice was predeceased by her parents Vada and Claude Dalton, husband Ralph E. Dickmann, and oldest son Ralph Dickmann, Jr.,  as well as brothers Claude “Sony” Dalton and Thomas Dalton, and sister, Mary Lou Pipkorn.

She is survived by her children  Sandra (Robert) Schroeder, Richard (Kim) Dickmann, Phillip (friend Sue) Dickmann, Ted (Donna) Dickmann and Michael (Jodi) Dickmann, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by brothers  James (Nancy) Dalton and Leslie (Alana) Dalton, sister Janie Ann (Orville-deceased) Heckendorf, brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff on the Forestview wing at Cedar Community for the excellent care that they provided to Alice while she was there. We are very grateful for such caring and compassionate individuals!

Funeral services were to be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, W61 N498 Washington Ave., Cedarburg.

Interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 4 to 5:45 p.m.
