Uncontested election guarantees two new faces on Village Board

The Grafton Village Board will have a new look following the Tuesday, April 7, election. 

Incumbent trustee Lisa Uribe Harbeck and newcomers Amy Luft and Daniel Delorit are running unopposed for three seats on the board. 

Trustees Susan Meinecke and David Liss are not seeking re-election. 

“It’s time to move on,” said Meinecke, who has butted heads with village officials over matters related to open-records requests involving the Grafton Fire Department and her 2018 re-election bid.  

Liss, who has been a trustee since 2006, said he is not seeking re-election because of work obligations.

In December, Luft and Delorit sought to fill a vacant trustee seat that was filled by Jim Miller. 

Luft is district president of the American Legion Auxiliary and past vice president of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.

Delorit has been a village resident for 32 years and is the secretary for the Grafton Lions Club.  He is also a former president of the club.

Town Supervisors Tom Sykora and Tom Grabow are running unopposed in the April election.

Village trustees and town supervisors serve two-year terms.

On the Grafton School Board,  President Paul Lorge and members Steve Nauta and Carrie Walls are running unopposed. School Board members serve three-year terms.

Village polls, which were previously at John Long Middle School, have been moved to Grace Lutheran Church, 715 Sixth Ave.
