Trash, recycling harvest is up in town

More items are being thrown away and recycled in the Town of Belgium.

Supr. Tom Bichler reported last week that the tonnage for 2024 was up from 2023.

A total of 291 tons of trash were collected, an increase from 268.

A total of 84.26 tons of recycling were collected, up from 61.2 tons.

“Sure beats it being in the ditch,” Town Chairman Tom Winker said.

Firewood is still available at the transfer site. Liability forms are required before operating a chainsaw. Those interested in wood are to call Bichler at (262) 339-1346.
