The Town of Belgium transfer site got backed up a couple of weeks ago.

Advanced Disposal was not picking up the dumpsters on time, Supr. Tom Bichler said at Tuesday’s Town Board meeting.

“I got it all straightened out. We had a little overflow problem for a little while, but it’s all cleaned up,” Bichler said.

Advanced Disposal has worked to rectify the issue.

“They’re going to try a little better. They hired two more employees now. They were short staffed again for a while. So hopefully it’s all cleaned up nice now for a while,” Bichler said.

In other garbage and recycling news, Bicher said signs to be placed at the transfer site entrance in English and Spanish are at a paint shop and should be ready next month.

Summer hours at the site continue through Sept. 30. The site is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays. Starting Oct. 1, the site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

On Jan. 1, the hours change to 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays year-round.
