The Town of Fredonia’s 2027 tax levy is slated to increase by 1%, according to an essentially status quo proposed budget.

Village Administrator Christophe Jenkins told the Town Board during his budget presentation on Oct. 14 that the tax rate is slated to fall by one cent.

The levy is slated to be $867,000, up from $863,000.

Revenues generated by net new construction rose from $745,000 to $750,000.

Shared revenue from the state is up from $110,000 to $114,000.

Road maintenance costs are increasing from $420,000 to $470,000, but winter road maintenance is slated to drop from $80,000 to $50,000. The allocation for culverts and ditching are cut in half from $40,000 to $20,000.

The town is in the process of hiring a new company to handle its recycling and a new building inspector, so those numbers are yet to be determined, Jenkins said.

The cost of fire protection is slated to increase from $180,000 to $185,000.

Only two elections instead of four will be held next year, so costs will fall from $11,500 to less than $6,000.

The total balanced budget is $1.264 million, down from the $1.48 million this year.

Electors will be asked to approve the budget after a hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. The Town Board is slated to approve the budget on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
