Thomas Joseph Hawe

Thomas Joseph Hawe, 77, of Cedar Grove passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, with his son at his side.
Thomas was born Aug. 28, 1947, the son of the late Thomas F. Hawe and Delores M. Hawe.
Thomas had two children and five amazing grandchildren.
Thomas graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1965 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to pursue a degree in geology.
Thomas was an enthusiast of all things outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his father and son in Wisconsin and Arizona, boating on Lake Michigan with his son and daughter and alligator hunting in Florida with Mary Cooksey. He was a family man and the best of fathers. Some of Tom’s favorite stories included fishing along the Onion River with his closest friend since childhood, Danny Feltz, Lake Michigan shenanigans with Garrett and Mary McIntosh and Marilyn Hawe and prairie dog hunting in Wyoming with his sister Laurie.
In his later years, his greatest love was ballroom dancing with his one and only Adrian Fischer.
Thomas was the life of any get-together and had a passion for debate of any kind, especially politics. As a storyteller, he was animated and spoke with immense enthusiasm, laughter and love.
Thomas is survived by his children Abigail (Shane) Anderson and Thomas (Kelly) Hawe; grandchildren Syrus, Lilly and Oliver Anderson and Olive and Thomas Hawe; and seven siblings, Dianne Hawe, Pearl Hawe, Mary (Russ) Melius, Laurie Hawe, Ann Hawe, Susan (Marc) Parent and Lisa Cohan.
Preceding him in death were parents Tom and Delores Hawe; sisters Nancy Lewis and Gloria “Jeannie” Hilbelink; nephew Ford Thomas Cohan; and brothers-in-law Jan Lewis and Mike Steitz.
The families would like to thank the entire staff of Rocky Knoll for their loving, compassionate care of Thomas.
In lieu of a funeral service, Abby and Tommy will host a celebration of life gathering on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at Chissy’s Pub and Grill in Waldo, Wis., a favorite “Hawe watering hole.” Come with your favorite “crazy Tom Hawe” memory. Dinner and drinks will be provided.
