Theodore A. Doerflinger

Theodore A. “Ted” Doerflinger, age 86, of Saukville, Wis. died Feb. 17, 2021, at Cedarburg Health Services in Cedarburg, Wis.
He was born July 2, 1934, in Cudahy, Wis., to Joseph and Marie Hodapp Doerflinger.
He married Barbara Birler at the former St. Boniface Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 13, 1954. They started a family and lived in Milwaukee. In 1969, they moved to Saukville, Wis.
Ted worked as a semi-truck driver for various freight transport companies. He was a city driver so he could be home every night with his family. In 1997, he retired from Yellow Freight.
Ted was an athlete and excelled at track, cross country running and basketball, for which he won many awards. He turned the passion of playing basketball into coaching, and in 1975 he became the coach for the Immaculate Conception Jr. Catholic Youth Organization team in Saukville. For numerous years, he shared his love of basketball with many teenagers.
He also enjoyed bowling and even won a state senior bowling championship. He loved going “up north” to vacation, and to participate in hunting and fishing activities throughout the years as well.
Ted really enjoyed socializing and always tried to inspire everyone to have a good time. He had a great sense of fun and humor. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and children Cheryl (Mark) Hauser, Penny (Edward) Augustin, Tad (Patricia) Doerflinger and Amy Giese. He is further survived by his grandchildren Steven, Matthew, Joseph, Angela, Ryan, Emily and Erik; great-grandchildren Lucie, Sylvie and Cooper; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
The Rev. Patrick Wendt will celebrate a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 145 W. Church St., Saukville, WI.
