Grafton High School boys’ swim coach Bailey Bodart stirred up the potion that was his lineup on Dec. 21 at North Shore Conference opponent Whitefish Bay.

The Blue Dukes won the meet, 98-67, but the Black Hawks’ altered team won five events, including diving.

Junior Ian Mitchell won the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 17.46 seconds. Junior Charles Rose was second in 1:20.96, and junior Abe Belfor-Eichhorn was third in 1:28.07.

Freshman Jackson Konzen won the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.64.

The 400 freestyle relay of junior Dawson Memmel, senior Lance Greicar, freshman Gabriel Salko and junior Todd O’Connor won in 4:12.07.

The team beat their own teammates by more than 30 seconds. Mitchell, sophomore Bradey Meyer, senior Tristan Sohr and freshman Miles Jaeger finished in 4:43.76.

Sohr won diving with 147.3 points, edging Blue Duke Joseph Swietlik’s 144.05.

O’Connor took second in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.4, less than a second from winning, and he was second in the 100 freestyle in 51.74, five-hundreths of a second from first.

The Hawks’ 200 medley relay of Greicar, Meyer, freshman Luca Ncoli and Belfor-Eichhorn was third in 2:07.95.

Salko was third in the 200 freestyle in 2:11.36 and third in the 500 freestyle in 5:43.85.

“I kind of mixed up the events a little bit,” Bodart said. “Everyone put a good effort forward.”

The Hawks were to host West Bend Co-op on Tuesday and compete in a Cedarburg invite on Saturday.
