Susan M. Killey
Susan M. Killey of Port Washington went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was 72 years old.
Susan was born in Brodhead, Wis., on Nov. 1, 1951, the daughter of the late Franklyn Condon and Kathryn Marie (LeFevre).
She graduated from Brodhead High School with the Class of 1969.
While in college, Susan worked her summers as a lifeguard at the Pine Lake United Methodist Camp, where she met the love of her life. On June 24, 1972, Susan married Jeffery Killey in Brodhead, Wis., at Brodhead United Methodist Church. They spent over 52 years together.
Susan attained her teacher’s certificate, along with a bachelor of science degree in special education with a minor in dance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to pursue a master of science degree in educational psychology from UW-Milwaukee. Susan spent her career teaching special education students in Sheboygan County school districts, retiring from the Random Lake School District.
She found great joy in creating ceramic dolls, meticulously crafting each one with care and skill. Her passion for artistry extended beyond dolls, as she also enjoyed custom cake decorating.
An active member of the Port Washington Senior Center, Susan enjoyed participating in activities such as exercise and yoga classes and piano lessons, relishing the camaraderie and sense of community these gatherings provided.
Her commitment to faith was evident through her involvement in Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington, where she devoted her time and energy to various church activities.
Susan’s love for travel led her to explore presidential libraries and national parks and embark on memorable family trips, cherishing each moment spent with her loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jeffery Killey; her children Christopher (Adrienne) Killey of West Bend and Michael Killey (Pam Emard) of Port Washington; her granddaughter Kayla Killey; her brother Peter (Sherry) Condon of Brodhead; and her sister Kathy (Duane) Zweifel of Waunakee; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
