SSG Daniel McCoy Jr

PAID OBITUARY
SSG Daniel McCoy Jr., known to many as Dan or Danny, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 25, 2018. He was 33 years old.
Dan was born on June 9, 1985, in Marquette, Mich., the son of Daniel McCoy Sr. and Christine (Filetti) McCoy.
As the oldest of six children, he took on the role of protector and mentor for his brothers and sisters. He was always willing to offer guidance and support to help them reach their goals.
Dan went above and beyond to make sure each of them chased their dreams. Family meant everything to him, and his brothers and sisters always looked to him for leadership and advice.
Danny enlisted in the U.S. Army. Through hard work, determination and love of his country, Dan was one of the few to be selected for Special Forces. To be selected, a soldier must be highly intelligent, adaptive, creative, physically fit and most importantly show a very high level of motivation, all of which he met.
After his initial training, Dan trained as a Special Forces medical sergeant, a rewarding career helping people. In 2013, Danny earned his Green Beret and Special Forces tab. Dan loved being a Green Beret on Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha 5136. Dan also recently graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor of science degree in clinic health science.
Dan Jr. is survived by his parents Daniel Sr. and Chris McCoy and his siblings Derrick (Caitlin) McCoy and their children Shelby and Marley; Darcy (Roger) Pare and their children Sophie, Jameson and Greyson; Gina (Kyle Wilcox) McCoy; Carly McCoy; and Caden McCoy.
