Singer/Songwriter concert set for Oct. 7

Claudia Russell and Bruce Kaplan will perform a Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.

Doors to the church at 13800 N. Port Washington Rd. open at 7 p.m.

Russell has shared stages with many outstanding performers, among them Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, Loudon Wainwright III, Steve Forbert, Tish Hinojosa, Kris Kristoffersen, Willie Nelson, Darryl Purpose, Peter Rowan, Rosalie Sorrels and Bill Staines.

She has received numerous honors for her music and  performed as a cast member in several productions at American Folklore Theater in Door County.

Kaplan, Russell’s husband, is a writer, magazine editor, entrepreneur, graphic designer, marketing consultant, teacher, potter, concert producer, sound engineer, non-profit organizer, and performing musician who is known for his work on mandolin and electric guitar.

Tickets are $19 in advance or $23 at the door and $12 for students. Discounts of $1 per donated food  to a maximum of $4 will be given at the door.

Tickets may be purchased at North Shore Bank in Grafton and Mequon and Vines to Cellar in Port Washington. 

Other concerts in the series include Claudia Schmidt on Nov. 5, Ben Bedford on Nov. 19, Griffin House on Dec. 2, Joe Jencks and Kaia Fowler on Feb. 25,  Sons of the Never Wrong on March 11, Beth Nielsen-Chapman on March 24, Jon Vezner and Don Henry on April 15, David Roth on April 29 and Katie Dahl on May 13.
