Singer-songwriter to perform on April 11

Singer and songwriter David Wilcox will perform a Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.

Wilcox has long been a quiet force in American folk music whose latest release is “The Way I Tell the Story.”

He’s best known for the upbeat anthem “Rusty Old American Dream” about a vintage car longing for adventure on the open road. Songs like “That’s What the Lonely is For,”  “Show the Way” and “How Did You Find Me Here?” are described as lyrical lifelines.

Tickets are $22 in advance and $26 at the door, with student tickets set at $12. A $1 discount per food item donated to a maximum $4 will be given at the door.

Tickets are available at North Shore Bank in Grafton and Mequon, Vines to Cellar in Port and online at www.wsss.org.

Concessions will be available for purchase.

The church is at 13800 N. Port Washington Rd.

Other series concerts are Garnet Rogers on Friday, May 8; Sarah McQuaid on Saturday, Sept. 19; Rupert Wates on Saturday, Oct. 24; Deidre McCalla and Joe Jencks on Saturday, Nov. 14; and the Port Food Pantry Inc. benefit on Saturday, Dec. 5.
