Singer, songwriter concert is March 24
Singer and songwriter Beth Nielsen-Chapman will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.
Tickets for the concert, part of the Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series, are $25 in advance, $29 at the door and $12 for students.
A discount of $1 per food item donated, to a maximum $4, will be given at the door.
From writing hits for other artists to recording her own, Nielsen-Chapman has penned numerous tunes for top artists including Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Bette Midler, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Michael McDonald, Amy Grant, Keb Mo’, Roberta Flack, Waylon Jennings, Faith Hill and Willie Nelson.
Her music has also been heard on the television shows “ER,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Providence” and “Felicity” and in movie soundtracks, including “The Prince of Egypt,” “Message In A Bottle, “The Rookie,” “Where The Heart Is” and “Practical Magic.
Her hit song“This Kiss,” sung by Faith Hill, was ASCAP’S 1999 Song Of The Year, garnered a Grammy nomination and earned her Nashville NAMMY’S 1999 Songwriter of the Year.
Nielsen-Chapman also received a special award by The Alabama Music Hall Of Fame and was the recipient of the Distinguished Artist Award from the Alabama State Council on the Arts in 2009.
In October 2016, she was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.
Nielsen-Chapman has taught at universities internationally, including the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and the Berklee School of Music.
In September 2022, Nielsen-Chapman’s 15th solo album, “CrazyTown” was released on Cooking Vinyl.
