Shirley Lucille Large

Shirley Lucille Large of Port Washington passed away peacefully on her 91st birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025.  

She was born the beloved daughter of Alton C. and Leona D. (Rosewitz) Noll on Dec. 3, 1934.  

Shirley married the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Large, on March 2, 1957, and together they raised five children.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Port Washington High School, Class of 1952.  

She enjoyed her community and helped voters for many years during countless elections in the Town of Port Washington.  

Shirley was a candy maker and worked for Mary Jane’s Confectionery and Ashley’s Confectionery for a total of 27 years and was an excellent decorator. She was a hard worker and continued to work well after retirement years. Shirley was 83 when she decided to retire for good.   

Above all, Shirley treasured the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.

Her memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her best. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Gene; her children Lu Ann (Fred) Schmidt, Gene (Jennifer) Large, Gary (Terrie) Large, David Large and Jami-Ann Large; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Jim Noll; and sister Mary Jane Bravi. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Noll, sister-in-law Carol Noll and nephews Harvey (Butch) Large Jr., Rick Large and Dale Noll.

The family will celebrate Shirley’s life privately. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.

A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses who took care of Mom.
