Scott Zirbes

Mr. Scott Zirbes, a lifelong resident of West Melin Street in Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at The Pavilion at Glacier Valley in Slinger.  He was 72 years old.

Scott was born in Port Washington on Oct. 26, 1950, the son of Leo and Violette (nee Behling) Zirbes.

He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1969.

After high school, he attended Milwaukee Area Technical College while working at Simplicity Manufacturing. He was hired full-time by Simplicity (later Briggs and Stratton) in their engineering department and stayed there for more than 40 years, retiring in 2015.

Scott was a lifelong and active member of Friedens Church in Port Washington.

He loved his yard on West Melin Street and took meticulous care of it. He also enjoyed music, especially Jimi Hendrix, and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Scott is survived by his brother Gary (Marie) Zirbes of Port Washington. He is further survived by his niece and nephews Christopher (Amy) Zirbes of Wauwatosa, Kevin (Andrea) Zirbes of Port Washington, Brian (Kelly) Zirbes of Sussex and Jennifer (Peter Slegelis) Zirbes of Saukville, 11 great-nieces and nephews, his special friend Sheila Contresceri of Grafton, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Vi and his nephew Jeffrey Zirbes.

Visitation for Scott will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Friedens Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. Pastor Brandon Lemons will preside over the funeral service.

He will be laid to rest next to his parents in Union Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Friedens Church in Port Washington.
