SCORE group named Chapter of the Year; to celebrate in Port
The Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives has been named the 2024 National Chapter of the Year, and a celebration of the honor will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Mercantile Plaza in Port Washington.
The Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter was also named the Small Business Administration’s SCORE Chapter of the Year.
SCORE volunteers provide experienced advice, best practices and training on a wide range of small business topics, all free of charge. With 70 volunteers serving the chapter in 10 counties, the Southeastern Wisconsin chapter made significant improvements to grow its outreach and service to the local small business community over the past year, establishing a culture of diversity and inclusion while achieving its highest client and volunteer satisfaction scores to date.
In 2023, the chapter provided 2,400 mentoring sessions, supported more than 1,000 small businesses, increased workshop attendance by 500%, increased the rural clients served by 41% and increased its total services by 120%.
The celebration will be attended by SCORE CEO Bridget Weston, Board of Directors member and local business owner Julie Christiansen and Mercantile Plaza General Manager and SCORE client Mike Christiansen.
The Mercantile Plaza is at 211 N. Franklin St. in the Boerner Mercantile Building.
