The Northern Ozaukee School Board on Monday hired Josh McDaniel as the new district business manager.

McDaniel, who lives in Port Washington, is a certified public accountant who has worked for Schenck, an accounting firm, for the past 10 years.

During his time with the firm, McDaniel has been involved with school district audits and provided financial advice to school districts throughout southeastern Wisconsin, Supt. David Karrels said.

“We’re really excited about having Josh on our leadership team,” Karrels told the School Board.

He said the district was “really fortunate to have an impressive candidate pool” to select the new business manager from.

“It made our decision challenging,” Karrels said.

McDaniel, who attended the board meeting, told members he was excited “to take this next step in my career.”

In a letter to the district, McDaniel said that over the years he has helped school districts and organizations streamline their financial practices and improve their systems. That experience, he said, will help him find ways to improve processes at the Northern Ozaukee district.

“I hope to create even greater financial efficiencies and provide strong financial leadership for the district,” he said.

McDaniel’s first day will be Monday, Oct. 29.

His annual salary will be $85,000, which will be prorated since administrative contracts run from July 1 through June 30.

McDaniel replaces former business manager Julie Wicker, who resigned in August.
