School District happy with state’s special ed funding

Special education aid reimbursement from the state of Wisconsin to local school districts is rising.

Next year, it will go from the current 32% to 42%, and in the following year it will reach 45%.

“Any increase is a win,” Cedar Grove-Belgium School District Director of Business Services Tera Rogers said.

“More funds for special ed means more funds in the general fund.”

Supt. Elizabeth Freeman told the School Board this month that the reimbursement rate is the highest in 30 years, according to the Wisconsin Association of School Boards.

“It’s moving in the right direction,” she said.
