Saukville Legion to mark Veterans Day with ceremony
The Landt-Thiel American Legion in Saukville will mark Veterans Day starting at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, by honoring its fallen members.
The public is invited to the Legion clubhouse for a Post Everlasting Ceremony, during which certificates bearing the names of veterans who have passed away within the last year are burned. Quilts of Love will be presented to their spouses.
There will be a 21-gun salute at 11 a.m. followed by lunch served by the Legion Auxiliary.
After lunch, the Legion’s honor guard will visit veterans living at the Milan Estates senior living facility in Saukville.
On Veterans Day evening, the Legion will hold a dinner and host a speaker from the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial and Education Center, a Kewaskum-based nonprofit organization working to build and sustain a memorial to those killed on Sept. 11. 2001, and who responded to the terrorist attacks.
